The way we used our music also attracted our audience as we used an eerie version of Humpty the Dumpty. With using a popular children’s song that our target audience of females would of maybe sung to their children or little siblings, it is easy to relate to for them knowing the tune, but with it being eerie, it makes them feel something’s not quite right, so the feeling of something being weird with the children’s song attracts our audience to watch on which is like in the movie hide and seek, where hush little baby children’s song is used. In our audience feedback, we were told that the music reminded them of a circus gone wrong, which made them think of children and want to go on and find out what else happens in the movie.
The way we used camera shots attracted our audience as we used a lot of close ups. The use of close ups make our audience feel uncomfortable as they are so close with the character and objects so early on in the film, so it is almost like they are forced upon them, and which in a psychological thriller there will be lots of moments feeling uncomfortable which our target audience would know due to their prior knowledge of the genre, so we used this in order to attract our target audience to our film. This is similar to the Sevens opening sequence as they also have a lot of close ups to their objects during their opening sequence so it is similar to our opening sequence in that sense.
The way we used mise en scene attracted our target audience as the props we used were all childrens toys, which mothers would have in their home for their own children, such as teddy's, dummy's and baby bottles so their is an instant connection with the audience as the props are related to every day life. In feeling this connection the audience would want to know what significance these props have on the movie and why these particular childrens objects are there, making them want to go on and watch the rest of the film. Also our set, which was in a childrens room, also attracted our audience as it was just a childrens room, so the room specifically being for a child, makes the females feel that motherly connection they would have with their own child as they have a whole room specifically for their child.
Our storyline is key in attracting our target audience. The story line of the mother losing her child attracts our target audience as it creates that emotional connection with the females as they will have the mother child connection which will make them feel the emotion and want to carry on watching the film as they will want to go on the journey with the mother as they understand the love you have for your child. This is similar to the movie mama as that is also about a mother.
Our character attracts the target audience as she is a mother so it attracts our target audience of mothers as they are all females so it attracts the female gender. Also where she is creepy and weird and does things such as sucking the dummy it is not in the norm so it makes the audience want to watch on as they want to see why she is like this.
